DRAFT — not yet legal advice. This document is a structured starting point that covers the disclosures the compliance guide requires. It must be reviewed and finalized by a consumer-protection lawyer before launch, and this box must be deleted at that point.

Section 1What we collect

We collect only what we need to sell you a subscription, give you access to the platform, take your payments and pay your promotional cashback:

  • Identity and contact — your name, email address, mailing address and telephone number.
  • Account — your sign-in credentials and the plan you purchased.
  • Payment — the payment details needed to take your subscription payments, and the details needed to send your promotional cashback. Card and bank details are handled by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.
  • Platform use — which modules you have opened or completed, so we can show you your progress, and records showing that access was made available to you.
  • Technical — IP address, device and browser information, and timestamps, kept as records of your order and consents and to keep the platform secure.

Section 2What we deliberately do not collect

We do not ask you for your employer, your pay frequency, your next pay date, your salary or income, your bank statements, your debts, your capacity to make payments, or personal references. None of that is necessary to sell a subscription to an education platform, so we do not request it.

Section 3Why we collect it

  • To create your account and give you access to the platform.
  • To process your order, take your subscription payments and issue your promotional cashback.
  • To send you service messages: activation, receipts, your contract, payment notices and changes to your plan.
  • To answer your questions and provide support.
  • To keep the records the law requires us to keep, and to be able to show what was disclosed to you and what you agreed to.
  • To send you promotional messages, only if you have given us consent to do so.

Section 4Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers who need it to do work for us, and only to the extent they need it:

  • our payment processor — payment processing.
  • our hosting provider — platform and website hosting.
  • our email and SMS provider — service messages and, with consent, promotional messages.

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information where the law requires it or to protect our legal rights.

Section 5Where it is processed

Your information may be stored or processed outside your province. Where information is processed outside your province or outside Canada, it may be accessible to the authorities of that jurisdiction under its laws. We take contractual and technical steps to require a comparable level of protection.

Section 6How long we keep it

We keep each category of information for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected for, and for as long as our record-keeping obligations require. When a retention period ends we delete the information or render it anonymous.

Section 7How we protect it

We use encryption in transit, restrict access to staff who need it for their work, log administrative access, and require our service providers to protect the information they handle for us. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach creates a risk of serious injury to you we will notify you and the appropriate authority as the law requires.

Section 8Cookies and website measurement

We use cookies that are necessary to run the site and keep you signed in.

Section 9Your rights

You may:

  • ask for access to the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete information, where the law allows;
  • withdraw a consent you gave us, including marketing consent, at any time;
  • ask for your information in a portable form, where that right applies;
  • make a complaint to us and, if you are not satisfied, to the privacy regulator in your province or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

We respond to requests within the timeframe the applicable law sets.
